including its own self-contained Intelligent Road Information System,
IRIS, which offers
easy roadside installation on any existing post with no need for road closure
and provides measurements for road surface temperature, air temperature and
relative humidity, accessed remotely via a secure web interface, at around half
the price of any similar system a wider network can be created for any given
budget. Other solutions include full roadside weather stations, refurbishment and upgrades of existing stations, embedded road sensors and road weather cameras. |

and military applications. The VS 500 visibility sensor measures horizontal visibility along traffic routes. Unlike commonly used forward scattering sensors, the VS 500 is a compact LIDAR sensor sampling air paths up to 50m and providing a cost effective solution for visibility determination. The performance of the VS 500 prototype was positive reviewed in comparison with other sensors in a long-term test initiated by the German Federal Highway Research Institute (BAST). Other meteorological products include LIDAR sensors for cloud altitudes and aerosol distributions up to 50.000 ft as well as sensors for snow depth and water level detection. |
